What is Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is the profession who specializes in movement and movement disabilities. A physical therapist is a professional trained in diagnosing and treating many different complaints. It ranges from sports injuries like a sprained ankle or overuse injuries to treating people with chronic diseases like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Parkinson disease.
When Physical Therapy is suited for you
Usually complaints reduce within a week and resolve within three to six weeks. This is what we, therapists call, a natural course. In most cases Physiotherapy of other kinds of therapy are not needed.
Here are a couple of useful tips when visiting a Physical Therapist:
If you feel that the complaint will not resolve itself;
If after two or three weeks the complaint doesn't further reduce;
If you have questions about your complaint about the nature of the complaint or how to prevent reoccurring complaints.
